About me
Now for the blurb! I have a deaf family (parent, aunt, uncle and husband) that I am privileged to be part of. I have two grown up children, I am a carer and a dog mum. I am of a certain age and the menopause has played a significant part in my life for the last few years. I live in Scarborough, a beautiful seaside town, though it is rural and the deaf community is small. My specialist areas of work are CAMHS, performance work and working for a VRS provider.
As an experienced interpreter who has been in the interpreting profession for many years, supervision has been a long awaited time and space for colleagues to be able to bring concerns, issues, dilemmas for discussion. These discussions, using my ‘supervision wheel’ to guide conversations in an honest and open way. It enables meaningful exploration, including challenges, to help development, growth, reducing risk of stress and burnout, and facilitates the continuation of a reflective professional who cares about themselves, others and their work.
